Ireland - Éire
There is no legislation specifically regulating the activities of persons providing tattooing or body piercing services.
Legal Basis: Health boards are empowered under the Infectious Diseases Regulations, 1981 (S.I. No. 390 of 1981), and it's Amandments S.I. No. 268 of 1985, S.I. No. 288 of 1988 and S.I. No. 384 of 1996, to carry out an investigation and take such steps as are necessary or desirable for investigating the source of such infection, for preventing the spread of such infection and for removing conditions favourable to infection, where there is reason to believe that a suspected case of an infectious disease exists or a possible source of infection of such disease exists.
